Nutrition for Peak Performance

We all know how important nutrition is for peak performance.

Here is my quick “go to list” of good foods, good protein sources, best oils, best fats, foods to avoid and helpful tips.

Good for you foods:

Brown Rice

Quinoa

Oatmeal

Eggs

Rye bread

Walnuts ( the new almond )

Almonds

Yogurt

Good for you proteins:

1. Fish – best

2. Beef – lean cuts

3. Chicken

4. Pork

Good for you oils:

1. Olive

2. Coconut

3. Fish

Omega 3 – good fats.

Omega 6 and 9 – bad fats.

Foods to avoid:

It is best to avoid soy products which can cause inflammation. Women should avoid yeast also, because of the same inflammation properties. Eliminating simple sugars is best. Beer is ok, wine is better.

Helpful tips:

Contrary to some beliefs, it is not as important when you consume your calories as to how much you consume. Your body does not know what time of day it is when you feed it. It only knows if it has consumed more calories than it has used or needs.

Immediately after a workout, rehydrate and consume a high glycemic food like a gel or banana. Within 45 minutes you should eat a balanced meal.
